September 4 at 4:30 p.m. I was working on some notes and posting things on my blog. The recipe on the post-it note is to remind me of all that has to go into a lead paragraph. UNLESS your lead is so good that it's only one sentence, then you have to stair step information into subsequent paragraphs to ensure the reader is informed, entertained and will keep reading. Anyone who thinks writing stories for a paper is easy has rocks in their heads. People tell me I have a good writing ability, and this third week into the job, I'm learning my skill is marginal, and there is lots I didn't learn at school. And there's more to learn in the real world of journalism. September 4, 2009.
