February 27 was a sad day for Rocky Mountain News readers. Today was the last day the Rocky would put out a paper, just 2 months shy of its 150th anniversary.
It's also the day that I started a new class at Metro; Doug Bell's Portfolio Presentation class. Class meets from noon to 2:30 and shortly after the class started, the crew from 9News came to call to interview students and Doug about the future of journalism. I didn't participate in the interviews, my thoughts don't represent a traditional student's viewpoint since I've been around the block already and know a few things. Let them be hopeful, the worst thing you can take from someone is their hope. One thing I do know is that all will be well, and those interested in going into journalism will have a place. You'll just have to work harder and have more skills and maybe one of those Pulitzer things.
